I have loved this class for its overview of new tools, but in order for me to really enjoy learning something I have to feel a certain proficiency for it and I'm afraid that my results with podcasting and social sites were just to get things done for the course. So I am electing Option 2 and that is to return to some tools and work more in-depth or at least build my familiarity.
I LOVE the idea of a blog and I love that there is a really, really rudimentary blog page offered on teacherweb. I can't help it, I feel comfortable with my class web site. I love the bells and whistles of blogger and will probably keep a blog for personal reflection. I created a blog for a committee at school on edublogs and I can't even get the committee members to log on, subscribe to RSS and add their comments. With as splintered as my skills are, I am lightyears ahead of some of the teachers at my school. So small steps!
I see the advantages of wiki pages for full input and I have initiated this for my grade level team. I won't say that there is 100% buy in yet, but I think I have learned enough that I can sell it as a time saver for team meetings/minutes and records.
My goal this week is to create a podcast about wiki pages for my team and a podcast about the blog site for my committee. I hope it will be short, concise and answer their questions. I believe any resistance is due to our differences in home technology, experience and that I can assist my peers during staff development days. I definitely want to recommend this course so I hope it will be repeated.
