What am I learning here?

The first thing that is coming to mind today is that the more I learn, the less I know. Or is it the more I have to learn?

So, going down the list. I have a blog -- check. I have read blog articles -- check. I thought I knew my reason for having a blog ... to enable kids to continue to communicate through the summer and post writing. But there are so many more applications at school and in the classroom that I am kind of unfocused. I happened to be at FCE helping out with Librarian interviews ... okay I was a warm body I probably didn't "help" at all. But suddenly I want my Librarian to be blog-endowed.

Looking at some uses of blogs in education: I was drawn to the Fifth Grade Web Writers blog because on the surface that sounded like what my purpose was. I was impressed that each student had their own blog link listed (although I continue to worry about safety and exposure). What struck me (if I look at this from a writing teacher's perspective is that many blogs are a "rough draft" so should work be posted this way by students? Maybe it could be used as a peer editing tool. See! I'm ending up with more questions than conclusions.

I also read through the Rideview Middle School blog and am anticipating our lesson on podcasts lesson.

I had a little trouble adding the photo slideshow to my own blog and used a default picasso album. I'm guessing I'll have to learn more about photo-managment. See? more to learn.

Searching blogs wasn't nearly as much fun as I expected and I am a Googleholic. I felt like I couldn't get specific enough results. I did end up searching for a bunch of random things I'm thinking about now: weight watchers, taks reading strategies and library blogs and got some results for my requisite list.
